Saumur is sheltered around the Lori River is an elegant place, having timeless ancient appeal. The beautiful town of Samur has an awe inspiring chateau overlooking the river Loire. After a brief excursions in Samur, in the midst you came across the area for Wines Saumur Brut, is the king of the wines of the region. But don’t forget to taste other wines since they are equally tasty. The most sought after destination is the Saumur's lovely old chateau; the grandeur of the château is something to be reckon with.

The chateau overlooks the town from its hilltop. Edifice begun in 1246 under Louis XI and Saumur is one of the rare chateaux that display 14th century architecture, but it came to an end just before the Renaissance. In the latter 14th century Charles V's brother, the Duc Louis Ier d'Anjou, built a more grandiose residence on the site of Louis XI's fortress, which acmes the Renaissance style in the large windows.

Abbaye Royale De Fontevraud The largest surviving complex of monastic buildings in Europe. In its heyday the abbey was one of the western world’s key spiritual and cultural centers.
