Angers City Info

Angers Hotels

Angers is the capital of the historic province of Anjou, which is considered as one of the most beautiful cities in France. Among its many notable structures are the magnificent twin-spiraled Cathedral of Saint Maurice and the massive Castle of Angers with its moat and soaring towers. Angers was once inhabited by fierce Celtic people who tenaciously opposed the Roman penetration.

Several religious wars later led to the decline of the castle and Henry III ordered it to be demolished in 1585. The cylindrical towers of the pentagonal stronghold began to be torn down and the conical roof and the upper part were dismantled.

Today the castle of Angers houses a tapestry museum that includes the famous Apocalypse series of Nicholas Bataille who did the weaving and Hennequin de Bruges did the painting.  It is 140 meters long.

This city is also renowned for the purity of the French language spoken here. Many cultural activities are available in and around the city, including visits to monuments, museums, and the annual Festival d'An.

Since Angers is popular tourist destination, you'll find several accommodation options. We at StayResFrance.com provide you online booking of various Anger hotels purely on discount rate. Book hotel of your choice through us and avail of our special offers on various hotels in Angers.
